We were very lucky and did not have any damage to our house from IKE! During the storm, one of Bart's palm trees in the backyard fell over along with a few plants in the front yard but nothing major. A lot of houses around town had trees fall on top of them & a TON of neighborhood fences are down! We had a little water leak in our dining room and bedroom closets on the first floor but again, nothing major considering. Even the tiki hut made it though - only to lose a few leaves off of the roof. Bart made me sleep in the pantry Friday night while he stayed up all night and watched the storm blow in. (Sorry but we didn't take any pics)
We lost power Friday night and got it back Monday night! My parents and sister - one subdivision over - still do not have power. My brother in Magnolia doesn't have power yet either. We are very lucky to have ours back. Our cell phones are also working but our home phone is still down. Going through a hurricane 33.5 weeks pregnant is not my idea of a good time! Thank GOD I did not go into labor and the babies are fine :)
Things are still crazy around town. Gas is in short supply along with food. Even though we have power we have nothing to cook because the grocery stores still do not have any meat or frozen stuff yet. Today we went out and were excited to find gas and milk! It's been an eventful pregnancy to say the least!
Everyone stay safe.....Love, Mel & Bart
